The Port Isabel City Hall is located at 305 E. Maxan St. in downtown Port Isabel.

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Services offered at City Hall include: Garbage bill payments and sign up, Building Department, Hurricane Sticker sign up and pick up, Meeting Agenda postings and general City of Port Isabel information. The Mayor and Commissioners holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month in the Commission Chambers. The Commission Chambers also serves as a Polling location for Cameron County Precinct No. 1.

The Port Isabel City Hall building was designed and built and opened to the public in 1968 just after Hurricane Beulah made landfall and brought considerable damage. The new City Hall was widely celebrated.

Public Notice: Texas Community Development Block Grant Program. HEARING 10/20/23 5:05p.

The City of Port Isabel received a Texas Community Development Block Grant (TxCDBG) Program grant, #CDV21-0338, from the Texas Department of Agriculture for a Streets Improvements Project. A public hearing has been called for 5:05 p.m. on Friday, October 20th, 2023, at the City Hall, 305 E Maxan Street., Port Isabel, TX 78578 to review the program performance of the activities completed under this grant which will include an explanation of the actual use of the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program funds and invite comments.

Se ha convocado una audiencia pública para las 5:05 p.m. el viernes 20th de octubre de 2023, en el Ayuntamiento, 305 E Maxan Street., Port Isabel, TX 78578 para revisar el desempeño del programa de las actividades completadas bajo esta subvención que incluirá una explicación del uso real del Programa de Subvenciones en Bloque de Desarrollo de la Comunidad de Texas e invitará a comentarios.

Notice of Intention to Issue Certificates of Obligation

NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the City Commission of Port Isabel, Texas (the “City”) to issue interest-bearing Certificates of Obligation of the City to be designated and known as the “CITY OF PORT ISABEL, TEXAS CERTIFICATES OF OBLIGATION, SERIES 2022” (the “Certificates”) for the purpose of providing for the payment of contractual obligations to be incurred for the design, planning, acquisition, equipping, construction, and renovation of public property, and designated infrastructure and for other public purposes specifically being (i) acquisition of adjacent property for improvements and expansion of existing City Hall parking facility; and (ii) the payment of contractual obligations for professional services in connection with such projects (including, but not limited to, financial advisory, legal, architectural, and engineering).  The City Commission tentatively proposes to authorize the issuance of the Certificates at its regular meeting place in the City Commission Chambers Meeting Room, 305 East Maxan, Port Isabel, Texas, at a Regular Meeting of the City Commission to be commenced at 7:00 p.m., on the 23rd day of August, 2022, in an amount not to exceed $1,300,000.  The City Commission proposes to provide for payment of the Certificates of Obligation from a pledge of an annual ad valorem tax, as well as a limited and subordinate pledge of $1,000 from the surplus revenues of the City’s museum and park system. The Certificates are to be issued, and this notice is given, pursuant to Section 271.041, et seq., Texas Local Government Code.

In accordance with the provisions of Subchapter C of Chapter 271, Texas Local Government Code, as amended (“Chapter 271”), the following information has been provided by the City. The current principal of all outstanding debt obligations of the City is $5,800,000, the combined principal and interest required to pay all currently outstanding debt obligations of the City on time and in full is $10,716,533, the estimated combined principal and interest required to pay the Certificates of Obligation on time and in full is $1,757,825, the estimated interest rate for the Certificates of Obligation is 5.50% and the maximum maturity date of the Certificates of Obligation will not exceed the maximum allowed by law.  Market conditions affecting interest rates vary based on a number of factors beyond the control of the City, and the City cannot and does not guarantee a particular interest rate associated with the Certificates of Obligation.
