Cameron County Confirms Additional COVID-19 Cases Cameron County has received confirmation of an additional ninety-two (92) case reports of COVID-19. This includes a new case in Port Isabel. Female, 56, link to previous case.


This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases to 1,546 in Cameron County. There have also been an additional sixty-five (65) individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 944.

Cameron County Public Health continues to work with five nursing home facilities and one detention center in addressing the COVID-19 outbreaks. To date, the Cameron County cases arising from the Veranda Nursing Home has included 35 employees and 63 residents who have tested positive, including eleven (11) who have passed away. The Windsor Atrium currently has 39 employees and 61 residents who have tested positive, including sixteen (16) individuals who have passed away. Spanish Meadows in Brownsville also has six (6) employees and eleven (11) residents who have tested positive, including one who has passed away. The Rio at Fox Hollow in Brownsville has five (5) employees and thirteen (13) residents who have tested positive. Alta Vista in Brownsville has one (1) employee and three (3) residents who have tested positive. In addition, Port Isabel Service Processing Center has seven (7) employees and fifty-three (53) detainees who have tested positive.

As part of the COVID-19 action response plan, Cameron County Public Health is conducting epidemiological investigations, contact tracing as needed, and continues to monitor the situation.

Update: 6/15

Cameron County received confirmation of 3 additional cases in Port Isabel. 32 year old male (community spread), 25 year old female (linked to a previous case) and 29 year old male (linked to a previous case). These cases bring the total Port Isabel cases to 12.

A total of 40 additional cases brings the total number of COVID-19 cases to 1178 in Cameron County. There have also been an additional 21 individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 781.

Update: 6/13

Cameron County had confirmed a new COVID-19 case in Port Isabel. 49 year old female, linked to a previous case. Port Isabel’s case total is 9. A total of 57 case reports of COVID-19 in Cameron County raised the number to 1138.

Update: 6/11 

Cameron County has confirmed a new COVID-19 case in Port Isabel. 52 year old male, community spread. A total of 39 additional cases in Cameron County brings the total to 990.

Cameron County has received confirmation of two additional COVID-19 related deaths of Cameron County residents. The individuals were 65 and 67-year-old males from Brownsville. They were both previously reported cases. This raises the number of COVID-19 related deaths in Cameron County to forty-two (42).

This raises the total number of COVID-19 cases to 990 in Cameron County. There have also been an additional twenty-eight (28) individuals who have recovered, raising the total number of recovered individuals to 686.
